It's been a busy week, so I've probably missed a lot of things. Ones that I haven't include:
- Apple Computers has a disgustingly transmisogynistic advert. Part of a privilege-filled series.
- Kate Harding at Shapely Prose digs up several problems I missed with that obesity perceptions poll.
- From the F-Word, John Prescott complains that his party spends too much time on "women's issues". That they spend as much as they do, unsatisfactory as it is, is one of the few reasons I haven't yet ruled out voting for them. On the bright side, they do seem to be doing something useful about domestic violence.
- The Roman Polanski arrest summarised well. It's getting close to not being able to watch a film again, though, if you want to avoid supporting his apologists.
- Yet more misunderstanding of correlation and coincidence by the press. My sympathies to Ms. Morton's family and friends.
- On that note, Sociological Images have found an interesting graphical representation of risk vs coverage for a variety of potential causes of harm.
- Intersectionality is something that major feminist campaign(er)s don't always deal with well, as this article on the toughened glass ceiling for black women and this one on use of language show.
- A quick introduction to the concept of patriarchy.
